Things You Need to Know about Buying a Lake Home

The lakefront property lines don’t go all the way to the water.  They will all have a certain portion of the land under the guidelines of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  Most of the time you can identify this boundary with the little red markers at the edge of the property line.  They have guidelines that you must abide by… including personal use of the property.  You cannot build any structure on their land.  If there are trees that you feel block your view of the water, you’ll have to live with it.  Because cutting down trees is not allowed on the Corps of Engineers property.  And when you write an offer for any Gallatin TN Lake Homes for Sale, be sure to stipulate that you will receive a letter assuring you that the boat dock permit will transfer over to you as the new owner of the property.  Once you close the sale, there will be a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Ranger that will meet with you at the property.  This purpose of this meeting is make sure you understand their rules and ask any questions that you have.   Living on the lake is a unique experience.  There’s nothing quite like the peace of being able to look out over the water.
